Happy Birthday to You, Jody!

This picture was taken on Sunday when Dave's Mom, along with Denny and Mary Prothero, and John and Delores Moe, visited Jody and Darin on the ranch. Mary took this awesome picture of them in front of their house, along with their dog, Jake, who is smiling for the camera! Grandma has enjoyed having the Protheros and Moes down in Rockport with her for the month of February. Unfortunately they were hoping to join Jody and Darin at church but an ice storm in San Antonio resulted in so many accidents that they closed the roads for a while! In Texas of all places!!! So they came for lunch and a tour of the ranch instead.

I thought this was a great picture to put on today's post since today is Jody's 23rd Birthday on Thursday, February 23. Jods I am missing you today but it was so awesome to talk to you this morning and sing Happy Birthday to you at the beginning of your special day. And getting this picture this morning was a special blessing....you look so happy with your man!! I can hardly wait for our visit in April, to spend time with you in your new home and see everything in person!

God has brought you a long way, and we know that He will continue to lead and direct you and Darin as you seek His face and His heart for your lives! May the year ahead have God's handprint all over it!

What is this you see? There must be some mistake...there is a plaid couch and chair missing that have been in our living room for the past 31 years!!!

Nope, no mistakes! and yes, you are looking at our new living room! This post is just for you Jods since you asked me to take a picture of our new furniture and post it so you could see it. After 31 years of plaid, and several years of Dave and the kids telling me that the old furniture with it's deteriorating upholstery really had to go, the news of a grandchild finally did it! I agreed to look for new living room furniture(I was afraid that if Baby Beck looked anything like Jamie, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart in pictures because they would be taken on the same couch!Eeekks! That would never do!)

So we prayed for a deal, and then went shopping! And God gave us a deal! Nothing like those January specials and then no gst or pst(no tax for you Americans) on top of that. The furniture was finally delivered last week just in time for our Life Group to arrive and enjoy it for our weekly meeting!

So y'all come now and try it out too! (and no worries...the plaid furniture? it's still in the house...but in the basement Rec Room where all 31 year old furniture belongs! Posted by Picasa

Grandparents!!!

Yup, it is true! Dave and I are going to be grandparents! Who you ask?(that's everyone's first question when I tell them, and with three young married couples, it is the obvious question) Our firstborn! Jamie and Megan are expecting an addition to their family in August!!! Check out their blog at megans musings for all the latest updates and pictures!

They told us at Christmas already, when we were altogether for our Beck Christmas Eve(so awesome that Jody and Darin were with us when we found out...definitely a Christmas memory we will always share). But then they asked us to pray but keep it a secret until Megan had made it to 13 weeks.

So yesterday was the day that they called the Grandparents and told them the good news....Grandma the Great and Oma and Opa the Great!!!(everyone decided that they liked that better than being Great Grandparents) Then Dave and I told our sisters, so today is the day for the rest of the world to find out! And I decided to reward all of you, our faithful Blog Readers, for all the times you check the blog and there is nothing new or noteworthy posted!

For those of you that knew about my fear that I would ever only have fourleggeed, furry granchildren, that has now been laid to rest! and boy am I excited! No, I haven't bought any baby things yet!(Heather however has already given in to an 'auntie moment and bought an outfit for a girl and for a boy!) But with this being the first grandchild for both Megan's parents, and for us, and the first great grandchild for our parents as well, I am sure this child will be well taken care of! ;-)

Thanks for joining us in praying for this new life, and for Megan and Jamie as they prepare for this very big change in their lives! ;-)

Visiting Grandma

This picture was taken a week ago, on Saturday, January 28 in Rockport, Texas. Jody and Darin drove down to visit Dave's Mom, Grandma to them, and someone offered to take this picture of the three of them! We thought it was a good one so I decided to see if I could borrow it for my blog as well! For more pictures from their visit, check out their blog ...A Tale of our Miles! Appropriate name don't you think? Posted by Picasa

Rain, Rain, Go Away....

Well it is now official!!! We have just lived through the wettest January in the history books! In Vancouver we had 29 out of 31 days of rain...however here in Abbotsford, it was even worse! We only had one day the entire month that it didn't rain a wee bit at least! That makes it one day of sunshine since December 19 when Jody and Darin arrived for Christmas!!(Before that we were on track to make the driest December on record...but oh no! All that passed as soon as they arrived!)

So the moral of the story? January is a very wet month and we are glad that February has arrived! The forecast is for three sunny days next week...we may all have to take the days off and wonder what that recurring ball in the sky is! As for the daffodils? Well they are still convinced it is spring!
