95 Degrees Out!

Yes it's true! The thermometer went up to 95 out today(up over 60 degrees since last week Thursday!) It was time for Caily to try out her new shorts that we bought yesterday and time for all of us to spend the day outside! Here Caily joins Grandpa as he takes away all the leaves he has raked up.We brought out a blanket and toys and spent most of the day outside...it was so much fun! But who needs toys when you have a plastic cup?
While we ate lunch outside, Caily enjoyed playing in her Exersaucer. The puppies and Reese were all there too, and here Sneezy got close enough to lick Caily's fingers. Never a dull moment around here that's for sure! She didn't mind at all though!

We got to babysit tonight while Jody and Darin went out on a date, and we were still outside....and Caily was still enjoying her plastic cup. She has the cutest giggle and we are enjoying hearing every single one!

When Caily got tired of playing with the cup and her toys, she crawled off the blanket and discovered other fun things...like this piece of dead grass. I couldn't resist capturing her feeling it between her fingers....pretty good fine motor skills I would say! Love those dimpled little hands!

Are You My Mother?

Reese, the baby lamb, is definitely confused about who her mother is! She reminds me several times a day of the Dr. Seuss book, 'Are You My Mother?'. Here are just a few pictures that I took today of her quest to find her mother.....

Sky is definitely playing the mother role for Reece, and the lamb seems to respond by wanting to be close to Sky.
Although she doesn't recognize that she is one of the sheep, she does 'head butt' when showing affection or wanting to play. Here she is trying to give Sky a loving head butt....
Since Jody feeds her, Reese also follows Jody around...including into the house if you don't close the door fast enough..
Here Reese watches Jody feed Caily, all the while wishing it was her turn instead....

But when all is said and done, even if Jody feeds her or if I do(like I did tonight when Jody and Darin were out on a date), Reese and Sky definitely have a connection.....and Sky takes her role seriously! What a good mother.

A few more pictures....

Now that I can add multiple pictures/post again I thought I would post a few more of my favorites from the last couple of days....here's one of Caily and I reading on Monday when it was raining out(today it was warm and sunny!) Caily likes her "Where's Olivia?" book just as much as Aidan likes his "Where's Max?" book....they really are fun books! She already knows she has to look under the flaps. Here's Dave and my favorite puppy...Sneezy! She is adorable, loveable and affectionate...and is going to a great home in Colorado of all places! Dave keeps saying if he could he would have taken her home with us! Look out Sheba.
I had fun in Rockport yesterday just laying on the grass with my camera clicking pictures while Caily was playing....
She absolutely loves stuffed animals, especially Teddy Bears....definitely her mother's daughter! She just giggles when she sees one.
This picture shows how excited she is about crawling.....look out world! Caily is on the move!

Happy Birthday Great Grandma

Today was Dave's Mom's birthday so we decided to give her the best birthday gift ever and drive down to Rockport(about 3 1/2 hours) and take her to lunch. Darin had to stay home and work on the ranch but the rest of us went on a road trip to the ocean. It's always good to celebrate when you are blessed to have four generations of a family together! Caily got tired of being in her car seat and decided to try the Driver's seat instead!
You can tell she has watched her Mommy and Daddy drive lots already in her young life!

After lunch we had some time to just sit outside Great Grandma's room and enjoy the sunshine while we all watched Caily enjoy her freedom.

The weather cooperated nicely....... Caily is definitely on the move these days and has mastered both crawling on all fours as demonstrated here and 'scootching'(or however you call it....she pulls herself forward on her arms)
Too soon it was time to get back into the car and head back up to the ranch again....but it was a great day! Hope you enjoyed it Grandma!

Our Texas Sunshine

We had rain today here at the ranch, but we couldn't really complain because it was their first real rain since September!(I know, hard to believe for those of us that live on the West Coast!) I had to post a picture of our Texas sunshine today....she really does light up the room!

Springtime in Texas

We all learned the nursery rhyme, 'Mary had a little lamb' when we were young but here in Texas it is 'Jody had a little lamb....and everywhere that Jody went the lamb was sure to go!'. Here she is...Reese(because she looks like Reese's Pieces) being bottle fed by Jody because her mother had twins and didn't think this one would make it they think. Anyway, Jody and her neighbor Diane have been taking turns feeding this little gal(including night feedings) and are thankful that she can now make it thru the night and is only getting fed every 3 hours! Sounds like a typical newborn!
Reese literally follows Jody everywhere although I seem to confuse her and sometimes she follows me instead. She doesn't know that she is a sheep, and won't give the flock a second glance, but instead runs with the dogs and wags her tail at Jody when she comes out of the house(and yes, she waits at the door!)
Springtime means new life....and here's Cookie with her foal who is two weeks old today!
And I had to post this picture of Bashful who we had to say goodbye too because she went to her new home...she was the cutest little puppy...so now there are three left!

Happy, Sneezy, Dora and Bashful

I know....sounds sort of like the Seven Dwarfs...except for Dora that is! There were actually 7 puppies who survived(one didn't) so Jody decided they would make great names for the pups! These are the remaining 4 puppies that still need to be picked up. They were born January 1 and are absolutely adorable! They were in the back of the pick-up when Darin and Jody picked us up at the Airport and I just had to take a picture of our first look at them! They are so cute!Tonight Darin received a picture of 'Doc' who is well settled into his new home....such fun!

Back to Texas

I had several pictures that I wanted to post tonight but I kept getting a server error so for now this one will have to do! As you can tell Dave and I are back in Texas and enjoying getting to know Caily again....she is such a little sweetheart and has grown so much since December! Here she is in the truck not long after they picked us up! She is ready to go outside in her hat and sweater....
