Fun in the Sun

After the coldest spring in 50 years we finally had a sunny weekend so we decided it was time to head to White Rock after church on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and when we got there we were thrilled to see  that the tide was way out there.
First we had fish and chips for lunch and then down to the beach. The tidal pools were swarming.
Our goal was to get some gelato so we decided to walk along the beach and see if we could get to the water's edge.
Aidan decided the water was perfect for running....
I love the pure joy in his face.
Jaxon decided to give it a try too!
It was fun sharing the joy of discovery with Aidan as we looked for the crab holes in the sand.
Of course there were sea shells everywhere....Aidan was clearing the way so he could run thru the water without cutting his feet on the shells.
We found a dead crab that was still all in one piece so I picked it up for the boys to see.
Jaxon wouldn't come close but Aidan braved a touch...just barely!
It's always beautiful to see Mt Baker off to the east from the beach.
Enjoying the reward of our long walk.....mmmmmm, delicious!
Down beside the pier, a couple was sculpting in the sand......
....a Canucks logo in the sand!! But we couldn't stay and watch it be completed.....the boys were getting tired.....and Jaxon almost didn't make it back to the car!
Definitely a wonderful afternoon of fun in the sun and making memories at the beach!

Our Very Own Canuck

On Saturday we belatedly celebrated Jaxon's 3rd birthday by going to Build-A-Bear. He was excited to go and told his Dad that he wanted to wear his Canuck's Jersey so everyone could see it.
He told Dave in the morning that the Canucks were going to win last night's second game of the Stanley Cup Finals 3-2...and they did!!! In overtime...but back to our own Canuck.
He picked out which bear he wanted and then had to help stuff it by putting both feet on the peddle.
We weren't really too surprised when of all the clothes he could have picked to put on the bear, he chose the Canucks uniform.
We had sooooo much fun! He now has the complete uniform, complete with his helmet,  skates, stick and net.
Back at home he was excited to show off all he had gotten...and of course to check out how it all worked!
Jaxon named his bear, Canuck.....so we now have our very own Canuck....big and little!! Go Canucks Go!!

Spring Cleaning

O God, my life is really an awful mess!
Is there any hope for someone like me?
I need you to come and transform this heart,
I heard you can do that, and that Your help is free!

My clothes are tattered and torn, filthy rags,
I’ve buried and hidden so much o’er the years
The closet is stuffed to the ceiling with things
Old baggage, old pain, and all kinds of fears.

O God, it is time to take out the trash
To once and for all clean this heart of mine!
That thick layer of pride should be dusted away
And my windows are clouded with jealousy grime.

Much idle talk’s been swept under the rug,
There are cobwebs of anger everywhere,
Greasy streaks of criticism mark up the walls
And selfishness clutters each room here and there.

I’ve tried real hard to clean it myself,
But I simply can’t! I’m tired, I’m weary, I’m worn.
“The blood of the Lamb will cleanse every stain,
Just give me your heart, child, and you’ll be reborn!”

Now that was an offer I did not refuse!
I opened my heart’s door and let You come in,
And the rest, as they say, is now history.
Your promise held true and You cleansed me from sin.

You do the work and I just relax
And bask in Your love, Your peace and Your grace!
That was the best decision I’ve ever made!
And, Father, I really like what you’ve done in this place.
