Outside my kitchen window hangs a birdhouse,
and in that birdhouse a pair of sparrows have built a nest again.
I've blogged about this sparrow's nest before,
but it never ceases to remind me of important truths.
I've blogged about this sparrow's nest before,
but it never ceases to remind me of important truths.
I love looking out through the blinds and seeing them peeking out,
watching the world outside their cozy little home.
I sit in the Family Room and watch them going in and out,
building the nest,
feeding their young.
I sit in the Family Room and watch them going in and out,
building the nest,
feeding their young.
I can't help but think of the old hymn,
His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He's watching me!
I hum that song a lot these days -
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,

And I know He watches me.
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
