A friend asked me last week if wanted to go see the movie 'Noah'. To be honest, my answer was 'no' and I think she was a bit disappointed. We don't go to see a lot of movies, and as a result I am very selective about where I spend my money. Plus I had already read all manner of review on Facebook and a variety of blogs and had no interest in watching it.
What I read just reinforced that I didn't need to see it to know that it hadn't stayed true to the book...but I'm not really surprised. After all it's Hollywood....poetic license and all that.
I find it interesting that a Hollywood Director would choose one of the great Biblical stories of all time on which to base a movie. But like many movies based on books, it's always good to go back to book and read the whole story!
So I did just that! I went back and read the book, the biblical account of Noah in Genesis 6. As I read, these verses stood out in my mind:

But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.....Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God. (vs 8,9)
If someone was recording my story, what would be said about me? Would it say that I had found favor with God? That I was righteous, blameless in my time and walked with God? Something to think about!
And just for fun, I did a bit of research and found this neat article, The Sixteen Grandsons of Noah from Australia's Creation Ministries. It's a great read! Check it out!

Well, I did go see it...wanted to see for myself how they treated the story.
I would not recommend it! The actors did a good job and the cinematography was impressive, but the story was far from biblical! I sometimes wonder what will be said of me when I am gone. I hope it is something good! :-)
