Throughout the pages of my favorite Bible there are verses that are highlighted, often with names and dates written in beside them.
Here's a great example from Philippians 1:9,10:
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ;
Obviously on July 1992, God prompted me to pray those specific verses for all three of our children, Jamie, Heather and Jody and looking back now almost 22 years later,
God has answered that prayer in amazing ways in the lives of every one of them!
In the same way, God has been prompting me that as a grandmother I have a very important role to play...
I need to pray, pray, pray!!!
And not pray in generalities, but in very specific ways, just as I did for our children many years ago. So for example, today I prayed for all of the, but particularly the four that I knew where in school today, the verse from James 1:19. I prayed that they will be good listeners and think before they speak and that they would hear God's voice!
If you aren't sure where to start, someone passed on a great resource to me just a few weeks ago that I have found really helpful! The site is http://www.grandparentingwithapurpose.com and you can even subscribe to their newsletters which will come right into your inbox. I love it!
Check it out and you too could begin to realize the power of a praying grandmother! :-)
