A Beautiful Day for the Beautiful Game

Yesterday was the epitome of a beautiful fall day so right after church we drove across the river to watch our grandsons play soccer.
They were both chosen to play on the Abbotsford Prospects Team to represent their age group this fall so had games scheduled at 11, 1, 1 and 3...that's right, their games were overlapping! Not only that, they were both chosen to play keeper(aka goalie) at the same time too. :-)
Aidan's coach couldn't make the game,
so Jamie stepped up to the plate...coaching is definitely part of his DNA...
...and the boys seemed to respond well to his coaching.
Aidan(#18) knows the game incredibly well and always has defense on his mind.
He's quick to get right in the middle of things...
and kick that ball out of the direction of the goal.
But given the opportunity he will take charge and take the ball down the field
all the way for a goal! (yes this ball is headed for the net!)
Jaxon(#22) has learned from his big brother, right down to the tongue sticking out!
He doesn't mind playing defense,
...but loves scoring goals! So fun to cheer for him for opening the scoring for his team.
Neither of the boys is afraid of having balls shot at them when they are in goal
and Aidan had lots of chances to practice his kicking skills after making saves.
It really was a perfect afternoon...
...a beautiful day for the beautiful game!

We are so thankful for the blessing of these two healthy grandsons,
who live right here in the same city as us,
for being able to watch them doing what they love to do
and for the privilege of cheering them on.

Doris, you got the best action photos, there! I think you would have loved to play soccer yourself if given the chance! Maybe you did!
