We are on a journey, sojourners on this earth. Let us share with you the highs and lows of our lives. Heaven is a sweeter place now that we have two beautiful granddaughters waiting there for us.

Run Forrest Run

A trip to Lahaina wouldn't be complete without a stop for dinner at Bubba Gump's.
Everywhere we looked we saw reminders from the movie, Forrest Gump...
...but the boys were most excited about having a window seat
where they could watch the waves crash on the breaker below.
 Smile, Aidan...
...at least the adults smiled for the picture!
We tried to explain Forrest Gump to the boys,
but how do you do that when the only Forrest they ever heard about before was their grandfather,
Forrest Lyle Beck?
But we still got a thumbs up from Jaxon for the meal and choice of restaurant!
And there really was nothing to compare this too...
 ...watching this beautiful sunset...
...right from our table!

Wonderful memories of a Hawaiian vacation.

Flowers of Hawaii

A trip to the tropics wouldn't be complete without pictures of the incredibly beautiful flowers!
Some are familiar,
except that we try our hardest to grow them inside,
and here they are everywhere!
 Hibiscus of every colour...
 and every shade.
Entire hedges of gardenias with their beautiful scent.
And then there are those flowers that you don't recognize...
I marveled at these red flowers every time we walked by them.
Then there were these pink ones...
and others that didn't even look like flowers!

This one is called, 'Pink Quill',
easy to see why,
but where do those delicate purple flowers come from?
I wonder if this one is also called some sort of quill?
 These didn't even look real,
and then there was the verbena which was found everywhere!

Taking on the Surf

We saw a beautiful beach,
perfect for sitting in the sand,
watching people,
and maybe even getting our feet wet.
But these two boys saw something else...
...waves that needed to be taken on...
 and conquered.

First they learned to wait for the right wave...
then tried to both catch it and ride it all the way to shore.
Sometimes it worked better then other times...
 but it was always fun!

They come by it naturally...
  ...because so do their parents!!
Sometimes only one or the other caught the wave...
...and sometimes we held our breath...
But there they came again...
 and again...
 and again!!!

That's what memories are made of...
...and what great memories they are!

Kapalua Bay

One of my favourite memories of our last time in Maui
was snorkeling Kapalua Bay
with my mother and my sister.
We literally spent hours in the water,
marveling at the beauty all around us.
So I was so excited when our first excursion was back to Kapalua Bay
every bit as beautiful as I had remembered it!
But by far the best part about it?
Being able to share it with the next generation!
Now it was time for me to be the Grandma,
snorkeling with her family.
It didn't take Aidan long to figure it out...
and of course I couldn't let him go off on his own!
So in I went,
and we were off,
exploring together and being amazed with the colours and shapes of the fish.
Three generations snorkeling together,
does it get any better than that?
I certainly don't think so...
and it was just the beginning!
