For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:13,14

In
a world where anything less than perfection needs to be changed and improved, I
have been challenged by the outlook of this father who determined from the
outset that his son was exactly as he should be and not a mistake. His life was
full of meaning and God had a purpose for him just as he was. He was after all,
created in the image of God(Genesis 1:27a) and absolutely loved by his parents.
For
someone that has struggled most of my life with self-image, it’s a challenge to
see myself as God sees me, fearfully and wonderfully made, beautiful! Really
God? I can spout the verses about that but do I really believe it?
Not
only have I been made in His image, but I am loved unconditionally and without
reservation. If the God of the universe has made me and loves so much He sent His
son to die on the cross for me, then who am I to complain about how I am made.
I need to learn to love myself too.
Heavenly Father, thank You that You
have indeed created me. Help me to live my life in light of that every day, remembering
that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and in your eyes I am beautiful! Amen
