As we walk around the pond it's easy to think that we have seen it all before and not really keep watching for the unexpected. Like this particular day....
...that brown dot was a black-tailed deer!! What was he doing here in the middle of the city?
...and once in a while we see little bunnies.
Other days we see all kinds of squirrels or other birds...
...and then on another day we see the doe again, but this time we also get to see her twin fawns!!!
Most of the people walking in the park that day never even saw the deer because they were too busy,
too occupied as they walked along,
looking at the ground as they walked and never looking up.
They missed the beautiful sight of a mother and her babies
taking a quiet drink in the pond
safe from predators
grazing in the green grass.
In the same way we often miss God's surprises for us in the busyness of our daily lives.
We are so busy walking, running from thing to thing,
that we miss the beauty around us,
the little things that daily remind us that God is there watching over us.
That's how it was the day we saw this juvenile bald eagle,
watching
and then stopping to see what really was sitting on that tree stump.
Are you walking and watching today?

You just reminded me of what a beautiful spot we have to walk!
And I must say it is nice to walk with someone who notices what's around us.
