High Tea with Old Friends

A couple of weeks ago I had the amazing privilege of having High Tea lunch with some dear friends. We were in a quaint little restaurant right on the beach in White Rock - the food was delicious, the atmosphere relaxing, and the company a blessing.
After lunch the skies cleared enough so that we could go for a walk along the boardwalk. As I took a picture of the three women I had to marvel at the gift of 'old friends'.

Louise(in the middle) was the person that first got me involved in Campus Crusade for Christ almost 40 years ago when I was in my first week as a student at the University of Calgary. She mentored me, encouraged me, discipled me, laughed and cried with me. Both her and Anita(on the right) were staff women in the Campus ministry at that time and we spent many hours together studying the bible, sharing our faith, and having fun.

Three years later when I moved to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta to finish my degree, Louise had been transferred there as well and once again met with me the first week to challenge me to get involved in the Campus Crusade for Christ ministry on campus. Little did I realize that from there I would not only get involved, but apply for staff and meet and marry another staff member!!!

The next September found us in Winnipeg, opening up the Campus Ministry at the University of Manitoba and Marilyn(on the left) was the other staff woman and my trainer. We spent many, many hours together as she taught me the ropes. Since then she has worked many years with Dave when he was in Human Resources and has remained one of our closest friends on staff. She has faithfully prayed for and encouraged me through 36 years of fulltime ministry.

I thanked the Lord that day for the gift of friends...amazing women who have built into my life to help make me the woman I am today! Who are those women in your life? I hope you too are blessed with 'old friends'!
