Fun in the Sun

After the coldest spring in 50 years we finally had a sunny weekend so we decided it was time to head to White Rock after church on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and when we got there we were thrilled to see  that the tide was way out there.
First we had fish and chips for lunch and then down to the beach. The tidal pools were swarming.
Our goal was to get some gelato so we decided to walk along the beach and see if we could get to the water's edge.
Aidan decided the water was perfect for running....
I love the pure joy in his face.
Jaxon decided to give it a try too!
It was fun sharing the joy of discovery with Aidan as we looked for the crab holes in the sand.
Of course there were sea shells everywhere....Aidan was clearing the way so he could run thru the water without cutting his feet on the shells.
We found a dead crab that was still all in one piece so I picked it up for the boys to see.
Jaxon wouldn't come close but Aidan braved a touch...just barely!
It's always beautiful to see Mt Baker off to the east from the beach.
Enjoying the reward of our long walk.....mmmmmm, delicious!
Down beside the pier, a couple was sculpting in the sand......
....a Canucks logo in the sand!! But we couldn't stay and watch it be completed.....the boys were getting tired.....and Jaxon almost didn't make it back to the car!
Definitely a wonderful afternoon of fun in the sun and making memories at the beach!

You are so blessed to be near all that water! Lovely family photos of some fun in the sun. What I couldn't get over is how gray the sand is. One usually thinks of sand being a tan color!

I have to smile at Karin's comment about the grey sand. It's not pretty sand there... but obviously lots of squishy things for you to find and I can see it was a beautiful day for you there! I'm sure the boys slept well that night.
