Learning to Rest....well at least trying to....

I have been thinking a lot lately about what it means to learn to rest. I must admit that I have not always been very good at it. There have been times when I have done a great job of being still and other times when I have been a pretty pathetic specimen of waiting.

But these days this sign in our front yard is teaching me again that I can't really make things happen...instead I have to learn to rest, to be still, to trust that God is going to work it all out for good in our lives.

That might mean that this house is sold and we move into a townhouse this fall yet. Or it might mean that it doesn't sell and we spend another winter here in this house that we love and where we raised our family.

I don't have any answers......so in the meantime I purge, I clean, I sort, I throw out....and I learn to rest and wait.

As hard as it is the time to rest is now before the next rush of life. It will be good to have time to sort out while you can really decide what to keep and what to pass on some over way. God will have it in order and the right people to take over the living in your home.

It's a challenging time in your life, but you have a positive attitude, you trust in God's leading, and you make the best of whatever will come your way. For us, while it was hard work, it was fun to downsize - from huge houses, to condo, to a 2 bedroom rental in a high rise and now to the Manor where hubby already receives Homecare. The Lord gave and continues to give strength for every new day! Hugs!

Thanks for the encouraging words Mumsey and Karin. I agree Karin that it is kind of fun to be getting rid of sooooo much stuff, most of which as my wise hubby says, we won't even remember because we didn't know we still had it!!!
