The God of Miracles

In the busy days before Christmas this Devotional was posted on thelife.com  As I reread it today I had to think that 'yes, God is still the God of miracles'. In this new year, won't you trust Him to do miracles in your life in 2014?

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

He wasn’t supposed to be here! And yet, there he lay, in a wicker laundry basket under my parents’ Christmas Tree. Just 6 weeks old, a tiny sleeping baby that somehow made Christmas come alive for all of us and would make that Christmas our most memorable for decades to come.

He wasn’t supposed to be here! After an earlier miscarriage, months of ongoing issues, and several medical procedures, I was assured that the baby I now carried would be born in the New Year. But now here he was, delivered full term. I had been pregnant and God had miraculously protected that tiny life. My doctors and all the medical professionals had to agree; he was a miracle.

Just like the baby in the manger, God had miraculously intervened and given life. Just like Jesus came into Joseph and Mary’s life that Christmas Eve, we had this tiny newborn that wasn’t supposed to live. And just like Joseph and Mary, we were astonished by the wonder of God’s miraculous power and intervention in our lives.

With God, nothing is impossible.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You still do miracles today! Help me to trust You with those things in my life that seem so overwhelming, especially the loved ones that need to be introduced to You. During this advent season, help me to remember to keep my eyes on You and remember that nothing is impossible for You. Amen.

A miracle to go back to time and time again and a reminder that God's plans are sovereign indeed!
