We get asked all the time why in the world we plan a trip to Texas in the middle of the summer when it is crazy hot down here.
The answer is very simple....because it combines three of my very favourite things! Sun, water and grandchildren! And it just doesn't get any better than that.
Although Dave isn't a fan of the first two, he also loves spending time with our grands, so he humours me even if it means he sits on the side of the pool and just gets his feet wet.
But for the rest of us, well we have a blast together!
The girls enjoy the water as much as I do...
...and thankfully the Caily and Lexi are great swimmers already.
Yesterday Darin was able to join us at the pool so the girls got to show off all their new tricks.
As for Colson,
well it turns out that he loves the water too...
...so I make sure and take him into the pool for a bit of time too! He loves kicking and splashing!
And some days while you are at the pool, the girls also find time for other things...
...like catching this little frog and turning him into their newest pet...
...or catching some chickens just because they can!
But then it's back into the pool...
...and more jumping and enjoying the sun and water!
It just doesn't get any better than that!
Which is why we come to Texas in the summer when it's hot! :-)

Such fun in the pool! By the looks of it, it could not get better for the kids.
